A Silent Betrayal

A Silent Betrayal were a melodic metal band from Geelong, Australia between 2002 and 2005. In 2000, Mat, Adam, Paul & Jac started writing and playing together with a couple of different vocalists before Damo (bass player/vocalist in Geelong punk trio No Plan B) joined in May 2002.

A month or two later we recorded a demo of our first songs at Pan Studios and began playing shows around Geelong, Melbourne & regional Vic under the name Have Letter. We then recorded a 3-track demo in 2003 under that name before changing to A Silent Betrayal with our 2004 EP release. Five tracks were originally recorded for the E.P but only 3 were ever released. The tracklisting was intended to be ‘Four Star Separation’, ‘The Waiting Game’, ‘The Lines are Drawn’, ‘To Be One With One’s Self’ and ‘One Last Try’.

An unmixed studio version of ‘To Be One With Ones Self’ exists somewhere, but we've uploaded the live demo we have (recorded onto cassette in a rehearsal room at Pan Studios) and for the first time we’re making the pre-production version of ‘One Last Try’ available here.
'Untitled' was one of the last songs we wrote together in 2005. It's a rough early demo of the song, we were still working out the structure but was a favourite of ours to play. And of course our early-days 2003 songs are up there too, in all their nu-metal glory.
After 3 years together we decided to call a hiatus to focus on other parts of our lives for a while but had started talks about getting back together in 2007. Sadly that same year we lost Damo in a tragic accident while on tour with The Red Shore along with Andy Milner, who also filled in for drums for us for a little while. This page is a dedication to Damo & Andy. Feel free to download and share the tracks on the site.
